Evan became an Investment Advisor to help people like his Mother, who, as a small business owner had not received tailored investment advice from the previous financial planners she worked with during her career. He believes the key to investing success is foundational planning – which he saw was lacking in his Mother’s situation and for many entrepreneurs and business owners like her. Because he does not believe in a one-size-fits-all financial plan, Evan’s approach to Wealth Management focuses on an in-depth and ongoing discovery process. He develops plans for his clients that are adaptable, to meet their changing needs over time. He prides himself on a straightforward, honest, and responsive approach to client service. Evan is reliable, attentive and empathetic to client needs and desires; your success is his.
Professional Experience
Evan has been with Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management as an Investment Advisor since 2010. He began his career at Haywood Securities in the accounting department before moving over to retail at CGWM.
He is supported by a team of administrative and investment products specialists whose dedication to service, teamwork and professionalism have fostered long-term relationships with his clientele.
Evan is now working towards the Family Enterprise Advisor designation which gives him in depth expertise on how to best advise multi-generational family businesses across Canada.
Education
Evan graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Humanities in History. The curiosity that led him to History (and still does) translates this way in the context of investment management: he is relentless in his pursuit of knowledge for the ever-changing planning landscape. He combines this curiosity with insights from fellow advisors and Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management’s industry-leading global research to recommend investment portfolios that reflect the values of a diverse and well-balanced client base.
Personal Information
Away from the office, Evan enjoys golfing, skiing, playing squash and reading - spy novels are his favourite. As a student of history – he truly appreciates research and understanding the “why” of how people, businesses and society arrive at a given outcome. He loves travel and exploring new cities just as much as the comfort of reading a good book at home with his two cats Wayne and Beast. Evan recently joined a squash league and is excited to improve his skills on the court.
